The practice is one of Australia’s largest employing over 400 people in offices across Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth and London. Mirvac Design is the fully owned architecture and design subsidiary of Mirvac, one of Australia’s top 60 companies.....

It's also where I work, these are some background visuals I created for our launch night. Chris helped me out with the Syntheyes tracking. It's all about design people!

As part of Brisbane indesign (indesignlive.com) Mirvac were asked (along with 5 other) leading design firms to transform a magis puppy into a an innovative design object. The 6 Puppies will be auctioned on Ebay starting this week with the proceeds going to the Breast Cancer Foundation.

The transformed puppies were on display during Brisbane Indesign (Sat Sept 20) and each puppy received a vote from all the designers travelling through the ECC show room. The final tally had the Mirvac Windup Puppy coming in at 2nd place behind Cox Raynor. You can see the puppies at ECC on James St (the valley)

My new camera is finally coming together, I've been buying bits and pieces for the last 6 weeks.
Quick run down:
Canon HV30, RNG35 vibrating 35mm Adapter, Nikon 50mm 1.8 lens, Indirails Pro20 aka Shrigg upside down rig, and a 10.6" HD reference monitor (currently in bits)

I picked up Jim Woodring's Visions Of Frank the other day and felt inspired to do some Frank style animation.
I've been working on a VJ/DJ set using Ableton Live. This was one of my first attempts at creating an Ableton video.
The song is Cursor Miner's Open The Box. I've got a list of "potential visual songs" that I keep, this one has been on the back burner for some time, finally to see the light.
P.s. If anyone knows where the vocal sample at the start of the track comes from could you let me know!

Ken and I did a couple dueling VJ spots on the night.
MSTRKRFT + Busp P were Ken's sets but after visuals for Justice got the axe we thought it might be a good idea to double up in parts.
It was a lot of fun, I can certainly see why him and Rach (Strictly + Lowdown) do things that way.
For once we were front of house and in a position to film a bit of the show.
This clip has footage from both of us.
Basically - the Wolfmother graphics, kaleidoscopic stuff is Ken and the fire and explosive is me.
I'm not sure who bumped the camera!

So I played The Future Music Festival on the weekend.
I spent most of the day VJing without my video wall, just a couple high gloss plasma displays (great in the sunlight...) My video wall was too heavy for the stage and was moved to the main stage, that was a good thing in the end because I got to play the staggered setup later in the night for Ferry Corsten.
p.s. I remember when they invented fluorescent clothing (sad day that went on for years), I also remember when it went out of style... but the kids are cute with their "fashion"
over and out - the old bastard.

p.s if anyone actually reads this can you tell me if the Ifilm video actually works? They have the buggiest site but the best looking player and video quality. Or if someone can tell me how to compress for the "tube" and it not have it look like complete turd, please wipe my way.

More than 50 international, interstate and local bands will perform at this legendary local music festival which profiles diverse music acts from a broad range of genres, market stalls, visuals and performance art. Just some of the performers will be:

BUTTERFINGERS
Take four strong-minded men with very distinct personalities and put them in a recording studio to record a wild pastiche of rock, hip-hop, punk, funk and beats. On paper, it shouldn’t work. But not only do Brisbane band Butterfingers defy this logic, they give it a good kick it in the guts on their rapid rise to the top of the Australian music world

DREAMKILLERS
Formed in 1991 by Jobson, a culmination of remnants from two earlier Brisbane outfits: 'Mystery of Sixes' and 'Insane Hombres': Jobson taking lead position and Terry taking to the Bass. Several Guitarists were auditioned, amongst them Sid Roberts, Steven Liddle and Sean Witcher. Sean was chosen because of his tendency to play dry. Apart from an override pedal Sean used no effects.

KID 606
Venezualan born, California based Kid 606 is inspired by the best of electronica, punk, jungle, hip hop, bass, dancehall and techno, fused together with a love of pop culture. He has released critically acclaimed material on Ipecac, Mille Plateaux, Fatcat, 555 and his own Tigerbeat6 label, as well as being famous for his remixes of artists as diverse as Depeche Mode and Peaches. An inspired, iconoclastic artist, Kid 606 features at Market Day as part of his world tour.

STRANGE TENANTS
Over 20 years on, as their legendary status has grown, most people are aware that Strange Tenants were the pre-eminent Australian SKA band of the 1980s.

THE MEANIES
Seminal Melbourne rock band The Meanies formed in 1989 and established themselves as one of Australia's most enduring underground rock bands, cultivating a huge all-ages following.

RAZ BIN SAM
Raz Bin Sam has a unique style and sound which ranges from gentle lullabies to the hardest high energy ragga. Always fuelled by conscious lyrics, the charisma and originality of Raz Bin Sam stems from growing up in the war ridden streets of Israel.

THE BIRD
Bring their unique take on electronic music with their intoxicating live interpretations of drum'n'bass, breakbeats, dub, hip hop and the Asian underground. Festival favourites from Glastonbury to WOMAD and now Market Day.

JUMP TO LIGHTSPEED
Ben Ely from Regurgitator fame has staged completion on his first major solo album under the moniker JUMP 2 LIGHT SPEED.

CURSE OV DIALECT
With a diverse range of backgrounds (Maltese, Macedonian, Indian, Maori, and Pakistani), their music comes off as a non-homogenized tapestry of culture. Their political raps, razors sharp writing, unique flows, and standout production accurately represents their knowledge of hip-hop as world music and the multi-cultural climate of their homeland.

FOREIGN HEIGHTS
If you know Australian hip-hop, you know of Trey, Maya Jupiter and DJ Nick Toth. Individually they have worked to develop and cultivate their own identities, song writing, performing & recording for about 10 years each. Besides their artists expressions, they are also involved in the media and community sector.

DROP THE LIME
Born and raised in New York City, Drop the Lime (aka. L. Venezia), began recording music at an early age. Inspired by the local rave scene he had grown up in, Venezia bought a pair of turntables and began DJ'ing jungle, drum&bass, and Techno. Expect four to the floor bangers spiked with Grime and Growling Bass Techno, while he drops his soul styled vocals.

MOUNTAINS IN THE SKY
Main mountain man John Lee has an uncanny knack for cutting, splicing, playing and twitching music. Whether its collating and configuring samples from scores of second hand records or playing a dazzling array of instruments, John’s there and on the money.

TALKSHOW BOY
Is a solo electronic musician from Melbourne. His music is best described as an amalgamation of breakcore, abstract hip hop and lo-fi synthpop characterised by fast tempos, frequently shifting sequences and pastiches of samples from popular music.
